Day 1 – Arrival in Kigali (City & Culture)

Transfer to hotel
Visit Kigali Genocide Memorial
Explore Kimironko local market
Optional: sunset at Mount Kigali viewpoint
Overnight: Mid-range hotel in Kigali

Day 2 – Akagera National Park (Savannah Wildlife & Birds)
Drive ~2.5 hrs to Akagera National Park
Afternoon:
Boat safari on Lake Ihema
(Hippos, crocodiles, fish eagles, kingfishers)
Overnight: Mid-range lodge inside/near park
(Example: Akagera Game Lodge or similar)
Day 3 – Akagera Game Drive & Return to Kigali
Morning game drive
Lions, Elephants, Giraffes, Buffalo, Antelopes
Excellent birding (500+ species recorded)
Afternoon return to Kigali.
Overnight: Kigali
Day 4 – Nyungwe Forest (Rainforest & Canopy Walk)
Scenic drive (~5–6 hrs) to Nyungwe Forest National Park
Stop at:
King’s Palace Museum (optional cultural stop)
Afternoon:
Famous canopy walkway above the rainforest
Overnight: Nyungwe mid-range lodge

Day 5 – Chimpanzee Trekking & Birding
Early morning chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe Forest National Park

Day 6 – Lake Kivu Relaxation
Drive to Lake Kivu (Kibuye or Gisenyi)

Day 7 – Volcanoes National Park (Culture & Gorilla Prep)
Drive north to Volcanoes National Park
